15-year-old boy Hospitalized Following Early-Morning Hit-and-Run in Imperial County

A 15‑year‑old boy is in the hospital with serious injuries after being struck in a hit‑and‑run incident on Worthington Road, CHP reports.

California Highway Patrol received a call at approximately 1:23 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, following a report from El Centro Dispatch of “a person down” east of State Route 111 on Worthington Road.

CHP stated the vehicle traveling eastbound when it collided with him for an unknown reason, throwing him onto the roadway’s shoulder. The driver fled the scene and remains unidentified

Emergency personnel arrived swiftly and the victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center suffering major injuries. At this time, it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors, and the investigation is ongoing.
